Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24, 2023 – office closed
Monday, December 25, 2023 through Monday, January 1, 2024 – office closed
*limited hours and limited staff from December 26-29, 2023.

So that our staff may enjoy the holidays with their families, we recommend that you start to think about making year-end gifts now.

For all other days through the end of the year, we will be readily available to serve you during regular business hours 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

2023 CFMT Year-End Giving Deadlines

Your Community Foundation Team has put together recommendations for year-end giving and grantmaking timelines to ensure timely and tax-deductible options for 2023.

Please reach out to your CFMT contact or to our general donor services contacts at givingback@cfmt.org or by calling 615-321-4939, Ext 132 to help determine when certain year-end transactions must occur to be completed during this tax year. We look forward to supporting your timely 2023 year-end activities and to seeing you soon.

Giving

• New charitable funds can be initiated no later than 12 pm on Friday, December 29, 2023 or earlier depending upon the type of your initial gift. Contact us to initiate the new fund process for this year or to begin the conversation for 2024.
• Gifts of stocks must be received in CFMT accounts by Friday, December 29, 2023, which means these gifts are recommended to be initiated with your broker by Friday, December 22^nd since securities often take a few days to clear. Contact us for stock transfer details and to notify of anticipated stock gifts to ensure timely deposit to your fund.
• Gifts transactions via wire have become more common in recent years. These transactions typically post the day they are initiated if done before 3pm. Contact us to receive wire instructions no later than Thursday, December 28, 2023.
• Gifts sent via check to the CFMT must be postmarked no later than Sunday, December 31, 2023. We suggest you check with your local USPS Holiday Schedule to ensure you are able to have these gifts postmarked in time.
• Gifts by credit card must be made before 12 midnight Sunday, December 31, 2023, to be considered as a 2023 contribution.

Grantmaking

For Donor Advised Fundholders

• The last day for 2023 grant recommendations from donor advised funds to be guaranteed for 2023 delivery: 12 pm on Friday, December 15, 2023.

We typically receive donor recommendations through email, mail or the DonorView online portal. If you need assistance accessing the DonorView system or assistance finding your favorite organization in the system, please contact us for assistance.
